Kevin Nelson BSc. PGCE - Fencing Coach
My Fencing History.
I started fencing in my early 20's (1990) at Cotswold Fencing Club, which was then based in Grosvenor Street, Cheltenham learning to fence foil under the tutelage of Pete Davies. I remained a club foil fencer for the next 12 or so years, when I then took up sabre. I started to compete, needing more practice I Joined Hunt Roeder in Bristol, where I was coached by Denis Hunt, who improved my Sabre. In 2005 I attended my first British Academy of Fencing Coaching course, and ran my first beginners course at Cotswold Fencing Club in 2006. Since then I have attended a number of coaching courses, and am now a level 3 coach in all three fencing weapons. In 2010 I attended the British Disabled Fencing Association training course for coaches, and shortly afterwards taught and coached my first wheelchair fencer. Throughout this time I have slowly taken on more clubs and schools, and this year (2014) chose to turn professional. |
